Storms
Stormy weather is our passion. We photograph it because we wish to express to others what we feel standing under the storm, whipped by the wind, and drenched by the rain. Add drama to your life, bring our storms into your home as art quality prints!
Tornado “Rope Out” – Waldo, Kansas – May 28, 2019
Artist: Brian Morganti
After sitting in Hays, Kansas for hours trying to decide where I wanted to go, I finally decided to head east on I-70 towards central Kansas. When I was about 50 miles east of Hays I learned of a rapidly developing storm with a land-spout tornado that had formed---right back at Hays! I relocated to a high spot north of the interstate and could see the tops of the supercell well back to my west. I plotted an intercept course back towards the northeast moving storm and was able to intercept a large tornado near Waldo, Kansas. I then watched this tornado transition through several stages, including this classic “rope out” stage as it moved rapidly northeast across the western Kansas prairie.
