Lonely Dune Grass Tuft - White Sands New Mexico

White Sands National Park in New Mexico offers the photographer many unique scenes to photograph, especially in the early morning or late evening when the daytime sun is far less harsh. During those times the low sun angle reveals the delicate patterns in the sand reflected in a much softer light. After roaming around for quite some time, I spotted this isolated tuft of Dune Grass that was far removed from its cousins. I wanted to capture the overall scene of the rippled sand with the more distant sand dunes and grass tufts in the far distance and wonder how this particular tuft became so isolated from the others.
