Artist: Brian Morganti
After playing around waiting for storms to form in eastern Colorado it soon became apparent that storms would be forming farther to our east in Nebraska. I along with the Tempest Tours group intercepted a young cell forming north of I-80 in western Nebraska and could tell right away that this one had promise to form something spectacular. I watched this fantastic Low Precipitation Supercell spin over western Nebraska for hours while it put out a spectacular display cloud to ground lightning that cut through the corkscrew updraft. This activity continued until well after sunset as the storm moved very slowly to the east.
