Holeman Spring Canyon - Canyonlands - Utah

The Holeman Spring Canyon viewpoint is one that is not well marked and is mostly overlooked by visitors to the park. Sadly, a very pretty view that is missed by many. After finding this viewpoint the previous day I knew it would photograph best near sunrise. I got up early the next morning and hiked to this location in darkness and then waited for the sun to rise over my shoulder. As the sun began to rise it partially illuminated a prominent butte that rises well above the Holeman Spring Basin. The Green River can be seen on the far left with the La Sal Mountains rising in the distance.
