Cinnamon Swirl

Wray, Colorado, tornado of May 7, 2016. This shot of the Wray tornado was towards the end of its lifespan, and is looking NNW as it slowly moved away from our position three miles north of the town. The cloud base has a "cinnamon swirl" look, and if there is a funnel cloud, most of it is obscured by a lot of reddish Colorado dust and dirt. Hail up to the size of about one inch, and strong winds, were impacting the Tempest Tours chase group at this time! The safest place to be was inside of the van or crouched low to the ground on the wind-protected side of the van.
