High-based thunderstorm near Johnson, Kansas, on June 14, 2019. The clarity of the atmosphere on the High Plains of western Kansas often allows for spectacular storm photography, even if the storms are not particularly strong. This storm featured an impressive lightning barrage and these unusual striations in and around the updraft base.
